Joan of Dark
Joan of Dark is sometimes called Toni Carr, but not very often. The moniker came from Roller Derby, was jokingly put on her first knitting book, Knockdown Knits, and has stuck ever since. She’s the author of Knits for Nerds, Geek Knits and Lopapeysa with Kyle Cassidy, as well as a contributing designer in many other publications. My Grandmother was a prolific knitter. My Mom IS a prolific knitter. And while I resisted knitting for many years (hey, I was gonna be a punk rocker!) I ended up embracing my crafty side. Now I knit every day, and design more things in my head than I could ever hope to bring to fruition. I love the stories that sweaters tell, hence my latest book with Kyle Cassidy, Lopapeysa. We explored Iceland in an attempt to learn all about one of the most recognizable sweaters in the world.
